In Nursery throughout the term they have been doing a selection of activites starting with they're main topic which is food. At this age they are learning to listen to stories relating to the topic and are learning to answer questions. For reading they have been sharing big books and discussing characters in the stories.
In English they are mark writing. As you may know they have different role-play areas, for the 1st half term they had a birthday shop, but now they have a cafe. They don't just play, but learn how to write menus and shopping lists.
In Science they had fun identifying and naming a range of fruit and vegetables.
For road safety week they identified zebra crossings and learnt a road safety rhyme called Stop, look and listen, also PC Steve came in to talk about his job and clothes and he dressed up some of the children, they also played some games and joined in with singing.
For Maths week they had a problem solving lesson and made hats, but the problem was that they had to design a hat but they couldn't have the same things on they're hats.
In geography they discussed all the seasons of change and they went on a weather walk.
They went on a listening walk some of the children have done observational drawing outside.

In Math they are doing Data Handling and they are sorting fruit and vegetables by colour, size and shape.
In Art they have done patterns of food prints.
For P.E they have been thinking of different ways of moving and they have been using the parachute and been identifying 2D shapes under the parachute.
For Christmas they have been making candles, pop up robin cards with moving eyes, glittery calenders with their photo on them and big Santas with moving eyes.
For all of the art work it is always important for the children to be involved in decision making like choosing what colour glitter they want for the santa and what type of moving eyes they want. Also for Christmas the children want Mrs Cottrell to tell stories about her uncle, Father Christmas and the children will be singing for their parents they also went to see Santa in Cefn Hengoed Family Centre . |
